Bangladesh tops SAARC in National Cyber ​​Security Index

Bangladesh ranks first among SAARC countries in the National Cyber ​​Security Index (NCSI). Bangladesh has improved by 27 steps the National Cyber ​​Security Index of Estonia-based e-Governance Academy Foundation. Bangladesh became the first among the SAARC countries getting a score of 59.74. Bangladesh has got to 38th position in the index, which is based on the cyber security and digital development situation of 160 countries in the world. Bangladesh was ranked 65th in the December 2020 index. The National Cyber ​​Security Index (NCSI) is created to assess basic cyber attack preparedness, cyber incidents, crime and major crisis management activities. In the latest index published on the NCSI website, Greece has topped the index with a score of 96.10, the Czech Republic is in second place with a score of 92.21 and Estonia is in third place with a score of 90.91. The United States ranks 17th and the United Kingdom ranks 19th in the index. Among the top 20 countries, Singapore is the only country in Asia ranked 16th. In Asia, Sri Lanka 69th, Pakistan 70th, Japan 34th and China has ranked 83rd. In his response to the 27-step improvement of Bangladesh in such a short period of time, BGD e-GOV CIRT Project Director Tareq M Barkatullah said, “The capability of Bangladesh in cyber security is increasing day by day, which is gaining international recognition. The BGD e-GOV CIRT is working tirelessly on cyber security, and such recognition will encourage us to resist cyber attacks and help increase Bangladesh's capabilities in cyber security.”
